get more use out of my new wool coat.

I survived my first blizzard. But it is way too cold out there! 15 more days until I come home!

fit in two movies, two papers, piano practice and dinner.

Yesterday was Heather's Birthday! Yay for chocolate cake!!! (and of course for Heather). So yet again, instead of doing homework, I spent the evening (wait actually the whole weekend) doing nothing but goofing off and eating cake. The best part of the weekend is knowing that Tuesday night I get to leave for six days! I love Thanksgiving. Although I would be much more excited if I actually got to go home, but my grandma's cooking will make up for a lot of it I think. So no one can yell at me for not blogging until next week, because I am going to the land of no computers, no internet, no stop lights and not even any lines down the middle of the street (sorry that those things have no relation to each other at all but its always kinda bugged me). Now if I only had no homework. Happy Thanksgiving! And I cannot wait for homemade pumpkin pie!

count down the days till Chrismas break: 28!

This crazy week is almost finished!!! Nothing seems to be able to stay still long enough to even think about. After snowing and diving down towards way too low to even think about in degrees its now back to a wonderful 48 and the snow is just about all melted. As fast as this week has been, next week will be much worse. But we only have two more days of class until Thanksgiving!!! At which point I'll be able to finally eat wonderful food and stress about my fourth huge, life-sucking paper that's due right afterwards. Freshman Fifteen: here I come!
As a side note, actually, at this point I've been able to prove the first two predictions wrong: freshman fifteen and freshman frenzy. And I hope to also prove the senior scramble wrong. So for those of you who have been out of college waaay too long (don't worry I won't mention any names or exactly how long), the freshman frenzy is the huge rush of all incoming freshman to find their true soulmate in the first two months of school, if I knew how to spell the dutch word for gross I would say that, but I don't (heather you need to help me w/ my midwestern slang). The senior scramble is the same concept except that this time its to get the rock on the finger before donning the graduation robes.
But the most important thing is that I have an entire six days off school!!! And I'm sure that my grandma is at this moment preparing to make me plenty of mouthwatering goodies. I only have to get through four more days of eating leftover pink fluff (even though I know that fluff, no matter what color it is, is definately Heather's and Karla's favorite food in the commons, no matter what meal).

wonder why they don't make warm snow!?!

find my mittens...wait I don't have any!!?!

This is what I woke up to this morning...weird. Thankfully I've been able to keep enough composure so that I don't look like I'm from California :) But barely. However, I was only really excited until I walked outside and realized that I was going to have to walk in the wet slushy stuff for another five months! At least I can just sit and watch it through the window now.

say goodbye to flip-flops.

The past weekend has basically been a blur, mostly due to the phone message I recieved Saturday aftenoon: This is Cole, I just wanted to let you know that Ashley and I are getting married this summer. If you want any details you'll have to call Ashley...or Mom. - Lets just say that the next few moments couldn't be described without lots of squealing and jumping up and down. I have to admit, I was kinda getting the feeling that it was coming, but I really didn't think that he would propose until at least Christmas, so to find out this soon was a suprise. And I did call Ashley, right away, and got the entire story, and then I talked to Devon, and Mom, and Brenna to get every aspect of the ordeal. And I have to say is that: Cole, I'm pretty impressed. Mr. Wonderful is going to have to be pretty creative to top that one for me.
As far as the rest of the weekend goes, I did laundry (!!!) and my grandparents came down to have dinner with me and saw my room. The rest of my time was spent trying to finish my Documentary Analysis project and getting used to the idea of a wedding this summer.
The next big excitement? SNOW! I still can hardly believe it, but that's what weather bug says, tonite and tomorrow! My roommate could hardly stop laughing at my reaction this morning, but there's still leaves on the trees! And its not even Thanksgiving! I can hardly even imagine having several inches of snow already. I was hoping for some time to prepare, as in: get some real shoes, maybe buy some gloves or heavy socks. Maybe I'll just stay in bed tomorrow and look at it through the window...or maybe I'll just not go to class and play in it all day.

blog seriously. right.

I have to work again tonite. Although the phoneroom isn't as bad as I thought it was at first, it doesn't make up my ideal evening. Let me think, my ideal evening...being hung up on repeatedly for three hours? no; accidentally calling an elderly woman, "Mr.?" No; playing Operation after getting an increase? slightly better; writing a cause and effect paper until 4:30 am and then sleeping until eleven just in time for class? not too much. So that's basically how I've been spending my days lately, staying up late working on homework and talking to random people who always ask how the weather is out here. This question is one that confuses me? Why do people always want to know how the weather is? Does it affect them? Does it give them satisfaction to know that I have to wear a bulky marshmellow coat just to walk to breakfast? And the other question that always annoys me is asking what year I am, so its not that big of a deal, I'm a freshman, but its another one of those questions that no one really cares about the answer, they just ask it because they think its polite. For example, last night, I was talking to some guy from California or something and he's like, a freshman? wow they start you off young over there don't they. I mumbled some answer about wanting to make money or something. He rattled off some school that only have juniors and senior call, and I answered with some sufficient answer to keep the conversation going. Not really he said, I just made that up, after which he laughed. Very loud. And very long. I'm so glad that I don't have to ever actually meet the people I talked to on the phone. But hey, I am getting paid right? And I got two bonus hours last night and I'll probably get one tonite. So that makes 9 hours of pay for 6 hours of work! Yay for all those who pity poor college students!

recover from feverish paper writing.

I've been told that I need to blog about my little sister: Brenna (Bread). Basically, she is the most amazing little sister that I have, and actually as far as siblings go, she's rated pretty high. She is after all the only one who ever talks to me on the phone. And she doesn't think tv is more important than me (LOGAN). She also is the only one of my brothers and sisters to send me any cards or letters. And she even sent me a bright green scarf. Although I think the only reason she ever does anything nice to me is that she knows her birthday is coming up. I'll just pretend not to remember and go on believing that she really does just simply love me.
Love yah bread!

pay attention in class.

I think that my big sis is going to get me into trouble one of these days. Ever since we were kids, she has taught me to make up stories about each of the dolls in the walls in our room, dream about climbing through the books, and imagine my teachers without noses. So now when I'm in college and should be able to control myself, I end up sitting in the corner giggling while I think of ways to distract myself. Such as last week: on Wednesday night, I fell asleep listening to my roomate watch Remember the Titans at 2x speed for one of her classes. She didn't feel that it was necessary to waste two hours of her life watching a football movie when she could get through the entire thing in less than an hour. So the next day, I was watching a particularly animated professor lecture about who knows what, and all I could do was imagine her lecturing at twice the speed. Her frail body was side stepping and circling and hopping. Her arms kept going this way and the other way and then all of the sudden she'd plop down on her chair for about one and half seconds and then get up and run from one side of the room to the other. Thankfully, she was too focused on her own speaking to notice me curled over with my hands over my mouth. I'm not sure what it was that was so funny, but something about sitting in the same class day after day does somthing to you I think. A few of the people around me glanced over and I barely held my laughter in enough to keep from distracting the entire class. I thought I had gotten over it a few minutes later until the next day when I started to imagine again.

enjoy the rain while it lasts.

So my roommate has left me this weekend, not that it would have made any difference if she were here. I'm going to have to spend the entire time in the library or glued to my computer moniter. At this point I'm just trying to get away with stalling a few more minutes until dinner than I can excuse the rest of the evening as friday night during which I don't do any homework. Already this week, I've spent lots of quality time in the library, although I barely feel like I have anything to show for it.
Prediction for Next Week:
Monday: Little sleep due to finishing cause and effect paper
Tuesday: Sleeping all day to catch up from the "restful" weekend and Monday night
Wednesday: Little to no sleep due to stress of preparing to plan out the rest of my life
Thursday: Little to no sleep due to stress from planning my entire life
Friday: Sleep until Monday
Well, hopefully it won't be so bad. I'm supposed to not only register for next semester but also make somewhat of a four year plan as far as classes go. This wouldn't be so bad except for the fact that I'm not even going to be able to meet with my advisor until the next week (don't ask me why). At that point if I have made a deadly mistake, all I can do is hope to find an empty class to transfer to...that is or I can just go home. (Brenna you'd better start painting my room back to its original color). Oh and by the way, I am getting a new advisor next semester. The one I have now is just the general advisor, but then I'll switch to an advisor in my major...whatever that is.
Just as a side note, I think something's wrong with the mail, I think that somebody else is getting all my mail. My poor little lonely mailbox is always empty....Mom get that package off the counter and get it in the mail.

learn how to be a academic college student

Sorry, but I'm going to vent:
So I have a general class that is designed to introduce freshman to the college life and routine. I understand the usefulness of it in the first month or even six weeks, but all semester? Basically its ridiculous. The professor is also my advisor and is very different from anyone I've met. Last week we had a one on one meeting to discuss how things are going and talk about the upcoming class registration, she told me that I was emitting negative engergies when I was in her class and I should probably think about leaving them at the door. What exactly is a negative energy and how am I supposed to "leave it at the door?" This has become the joke that I probably will never stop hearing. Whenever I'm upset about anything, my friends tell me, you know, you really need to just get rid of those bad energies, there really getting in the way right now. So as you can see, this is not my favorite class. So today I realized that I needed to write another pointless journal on a book that is, well... (after my first few journals, I learned that the author is actually a prof on campus so I'm not really supposed to say the things about the book that I first did). Usually I read the chapter and take something to write my opinion about, like I'm supposed to, or so I thought. But tonite, I found that my prof has posted feedback on all my previous journals. Apparently, my journals have been too academic...what? Personally, I thought that since I am well in college that I should probably at least attempt to write somewhat intellegently. Obviously not. She told me that I wasn't making it readable for the average audience...of what fourth graders? and that I wasn't relating it to my personal life...its not a letter to my best friend, its a journal to some prof I've only met a few months ago, and that I don't particularly want to spill my heart out to. So I, again, read... well skimmed... well looked over the chapter and then tried to make some lame personal note about how I hate some of my other classes. For the main part of it I tried to do everything I was ever taught about writing a paper and be very non-academic...aka, I wrote like a ten yr old. I love college!
